Tonight went really well. It has actually given me hope that I shouldn't give up on this technique. Granted, Kallie was EXTREMELY tired tonight--but she was extremely tired last night and still wouldn't go to sleep.
For the last few nights, I have sat in the same place in her bedroom. The girls' room is VERY small, so by night 3 I would have been out the door if I had moved much. Anyway--tonight, I moved a little closer to the door. Kallie only got out of bed 4 times! I was really impressed. Ryan and I have decided that when we put her in bed the first time, (and the first time we put her back in bed), we need to remind her that big girls stay in their beds. And then, ask her if she can stay in bed by herself or if she needs help. She is so independent and determined that we can offer that choice on just about anything and she will choose to do whatever it is all by herself about 99% of the time. I didn't keep track of the time tonight, but I know that it was definitely shorter than the past 5 nights I've been in there. I am really, REALLY hoping that she will learn to go to sleep from this method.

Amanda...it has been so neat to read through your journey into getting Kallie to sleep. In fact, we went through the exact same thing with Brooklyn right around the time that she turned two. And we had to do the same thing....we just kept putting her back. I've also learned that on the days she takes naps in the middle of the day is when she is more likely to get out of bed. So, we have almost completely cut those out (it was a sad day for me though!). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that it DOES get better....so don't give up. It sounds like you are doing a great job!
